St Mary's Church, Aberfoyle

Sunday School & Youth programme

Our youth activities promote our values and help build lifelong friendships.

We at St. Mary's believe that our young people are very important

We have been developing a range of activities for young people - mostly aimed at Primary-aged children but all are welcome - and have been meeting on the first and third Sundays of each month.
Please ask the Rector, or any member of the Vestry if you are interested in the Sunday School.

Hannah Sanderson is also planning a new service for young Christian people in the area.   Hannah writes :

Imagine you are fourteen. You believe in God and you think you are a Christian but as you get older the church service you go to doesn’t seem to ring true for you. You get bored, shifting in the pew and thinking about other things. You can’t see how what is being said and done on a Sunday morning connects with the rest of your life. You have started to resist coming and know that soon you are going to refuse to come to church with your parents at all. Wouldn’t it be great if church were somewhere you really wanted to be? If all your friends from school were there and new people too. If the music was fun and up beat and if the speakers spoke about the things that affected you everyday – the issues that you really worried about. Wouldn’t that be brilliant?

Well this is what I would like to offer the young people of The Trossachs. Some people from St Mary’s have been thinking about providing a Youth Service for teenagers in this rural area and we wanted to share our thoughts with you.

We hope to deliver a regular evening service designed for and eventually run by young people: offering engaging and exciting Christian worship music with helpful teaching about God and what it means to be a Christian today.

The event would be aimed at teenagers (13-19), however, there is usually flexibility at both ends of the scale according to the maturity and the needs of the individuals.

We hope this will be a service for young people from the whole Trossach area involving lots of other churches and their communities. At the moment we are at the ideas and planning stage and have not decided on venues or times.

As always with a project like this it won’t be able to happen with out your support. There is a huge list of helper roles to be filled. We will need, listeners, juice makers, table movers, speakers, a prayer ministry team, mini bus drivers, musicians, sound system guys, ministers and of course, most importantly, we need prayer support.

If you would like to speak to someone about this idea please contact Hannah Sanderson on 01877 389314 or by email (more information on Thirsty here)
