Praying with the Society of the Child Jesus

The Society of the Child Jesus is interdenominational with over 200 members. Members of the Society pray for children and seek to learn from them; their simplicity, trust and directness of vision. Aware that the future of the world is in the hands of children, members of the society pray that, through them, by the working of the Holy Spirit, the Kingdom of God may increase and the world may become a place fit for children.

St Mary’s supports the Society of the Child Jesus by prayer, in intercessions every week for particular children. Children are prayed for up to their 17^th birthday. Intercessions are for the welfare of children, specific needs and celebrations. It’s not just prayer for ‘wants’ but also to say ‘thank you’. The Society also encourages children to pray, for each other and for those responsible for them.

Lord, hear our prayer for all the children of the world;

If they are hungry, grant that they may be fed;

If they are sick or injured, grant that they may be healed;

If they are unhappy or distressed, grant that they may be comforted;

If they are happy, let us rejoice with them in your boundless goodness and love.

We pray that they may become like your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, who was a child in our midst and who died and rose again for our sake.
